Velocys' Board of Directors includes GTL experts as well as individuals with a deep knowledge of oil and gas markets worldwide and contacts at the highest level of the industry.

Members of our senior management team come from diverse backgrounds and bring multiple specialisms to the company. The team, which includes founding members of Velocys, has a strong entrepreneurial track record and extensive experience of technical and business unit management, gained at companies including BOC, BP, Esso, Phillips Petroleum, Sasol, Bain, GE, Chevron and Syntroleum.

Jeff McDaniel    
Commercial Director

Biographical details

Jeff McDaniel drives Velocys' commercial activities, and has established a leadership position in the synthetic fuels market. He has formed strategic alliances with international industrial partners to fund development efforts and establish demonstration facilities.

Jeff's background includes roles at Battelle Memorial Institute and General Electric. He holds seven US patents and has authored or co-authored several dozen papers and presentations on microchannel technology. He has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and an MBA and an M.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan.

IP, Legal and Licensing Director

Biographical details

Laura is an experienced licensing executive with overall responsibility for all intellectual property and legal activity for Velocys. A founding member of Velocys, she led the acquisition and in-licensing of the company's large, pioneering patent portfolio, established multi-million dollar development projects for advancing microchannel technology, and directed Velocys' first sale of licensed technology. In 2008, she was part of the Velocys team awarded an R&D100 award for the Velocys microchannel Fischer Tropsch reactor. Prior to joining Velocys, Laura served as a Commercialisation Manager at Battelle's Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, which included stewarding two platform technologies through the point of launching their commercial spin-outs as Vitex, Inc. and Velocys, Inc.. Laura has a B.S. and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Washington.

Business Development Director

Biographical details

Neville has over 20 years' experience in the oil, renewable energy and consulting industries, including 12 years with Exxon. He has brought many new products to market, led two small businesses and launched a successful innovation programme for the UK government. He holds an MA in chemistry from Cambridge University, a PhD from UC London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Director of Engineering

Biographical details

Ivan has nearly 20 years’ experience in the oil, gas, chemicals and mining industries, including 11 years at Sasol. There he was involved with the conceptual development, design, construction, commissioning, start-up, optimisation, debottlenecking and capacity expansion of several complex projects, including a 5 year secondment to the Oryx GTL plant in Qatar. He holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Natal (South Africa).
